Have you a set goal in mind? It might be a certain weight, trouser or dress size, perhaps it?s a holiday, a wedding or a charity event you are taking part in. Whatever your motivation to lose weight and get fit this year, it?s important to set realistic goals – and this is where I come in.

As a qualified fitness instructor I will help you devise an exercise programme along with nutritional advice to help you lose weight and tone your body safely. It is a known fact that obesity can cause heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure, so it is important that while you?ve made the decision to lose weight and get fit, you understand there is no ?get fit quick scheme? without risk to your body.

Exercise for weightloss - fruit dumbellsTogether we will devise a programme that enables you to exercise a minimum of 3 times a week around your lifestyle. The exercises we will undertake include:-

  • Cardiovascular fitness or aerobic exercise, including:? walking, power-walking, jogging, running, cycling and boxing
  • Resistance training using dumbells, kettlebells, strength bands, resistance tubes and medicine balls. We will also includes exercises that use your own body weight as a resistance force, such as press-ups, chin-ups and dips.
  • Stretching ? stretching is equally important as part of the warm-up and cool-down, and is included in all of my fitness sessions

When you are training for weight loss it is really important to take measurements as well ? depending on how much weight you have to lose there are periods of time where the loss slows down or even stops. By taking chest, waist, hips, leg and arm measurements you can keep an eye on the amazing change in the shape of your body. It?s not always about weight loss ? as you train you change shape, and for some people this new look is more remarkable than the loss of weight on the scales!
